Year 2000

Businesses with which universities do business are already sending
letters requiring that of a certain date the universities will supply the
businesses only with data that is guaranteed to be year-2000 compliant.
Once they are truly year-2000 compliant, universities, no doubt, will be
sending out similar letters themselves to businesses and other providers.
Licenses for electronic resources typically do not include any wording
about year-2000 compliancy; in fact, licenses typically absolve suppliers
from supplying totally accurate data. Is this a matter for concern,
especially since libraries may already be signing licenses that may not be
renewed prior to the year 2000? Is any library editing license agreements
to include year-2000 compliancy? If so, what wording is being used?
