Re: Year 2000

From: Peter Graham, Rutgers University Libraries

Rutgers signed a contract with Sirsi this year which called for a
2000-compliant system (OPAC etc.). They were happy to sign as they claim
to have been dealing with this for some time, and since they are
unix-based I'm not surprised. For language we used the Federal language,
which I got from a site I forget but if necessary can probably locate, as
follows:

"Year 2000: The vendor warrants that each hardware, software, and
firmware product delivered by Sirsi under this contract shall be able to
accurately process date data (including, but not limited to, calculating,
comparing, and sequencing) from, into, and between the twentieth and
twenty-first centuries, including leap year calculations, when used in
accordance with the product documentation provided by the vendor, provided
that all listed or unlisted products (e.g. hardware, software, firmware)
used in combination with such listed product properly exchange date data
with it."
