Book Publishers and PDA: Announcing a Research Project

Dear colleagues,

I would like to alert you to a new study, just getting off the
ground, that will investigate adoption of patron-driven
acquisitions (PDA) models in libraries and its impact on book
publishers, university presses in particular. The project's
Principal Investigator is Kathleen Keane, director of the Johns
Hopkins University Press. The research team includes independent
publishing consultant Joe Esposito and Terry Ehling, associate
director of Project Muse at Johns Hopkins UP; I will represent
the project at Cornell University Library, where some of the
research will take place. This project has been made possible
with the generous support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

For details, please see Joe Esposito's announcement in the
Scholarly Kitchen, which includes information on how to
participate in the study: http://j.mp/qQdaDU

Updates on work in progress will be posted periodically to the
Scholarly Kitchen.

Best regards,

Kizer
