ELECTRONIC RESOURCE LIBRARIAN WELCH MEDICAL LIBRARY, JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY DESCRIPTION: Welch Medical Library is seeking a creative, service-oriented librarian. The Electronic Resource Librarian is responsible for coordinating the selection, organization, and presentation of new or updated packages of electronic databases, e-journals or e-books as a part of a university-wide collection development effort. A primary role is to ensure consistent and integrated access to licensed electronic resources in a technology-intensive learning environment. Monitors and evaluates usage and ease of access to electronic resources and educates patrons about limitations of licenses and solves access problems for patrons. Trains staff; acts as department liaison with other departments, faculty, and other JHU libraries to ensure quality access. This individual will serve on numerous library committees within the library and across university libraries. As committee members, they will be actively engaged in solving problems and drafting guidelines for future library services. QUALIFICATIONS: ALA-accredited Master of Library Science or equivalent degree required. Two to three years experience with serials acquisitions and electronic resources in a large academic or medical library preferred. Familiarity with bibliographic utilities and integrated library systems is required. Knowledge of library trends, scholarly communications, and the evolving role of libraries and their collections. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a commitment to customer services required. Demonstrated commitment to using technology to help advance work goals and to enhance service. Demonstrated ability to assess needs, assign priorities, flexibility and initiatives in carrying out assignments in a rapidly changing environment.
