To help the research community understand the progress of open access, Thomson Scientific has released a new White Paper entitled: "Open Access Journals in the ISI Citation Databases: Analysis of Impact Factors and Citation Patterns." The study, which looks at the 239 open access journals covered in the ISI Citation Databases as of June 30, 2004, is freely available at http://www.isinet.com/forms/whitepapers/. This study updates an earlier analysis, from February of this year, which found 192 open access journals in our databases at that time. Jim Pringle Vice President, Development Thomson Scientific
