As director of the group that creates and maintains The New York Times full-text database, I would like to assure you that no articles are being removed from the files. Corrections and editor's notes have been appended to the fraudulent documents. This is a continuing process and more such corrections may appear in the future. This is how we always address errors in The Times. We never change the text as published, but attach a correction at the end of the article with the phrase "Correction Appended" inserted near the top.
