Many thanks to all. LIBRARIAN III (RESOURCE SERVICES) # S02-6273 Full-time position, starting salary $43,405 - $54,430. DESCRIPTION: Johns Hopkins University seeks applicants for the position of Resource Services Librarian to develop and deliver a range of traditional and innovative library services that facilitate the teaching and research needs of the Biology, Biophysics, Psychology, Biomedical Engineering, and Cognitive Science departments and the related centers and programs. The Science and Engineering Library, within the Milton S. Eisenhower Library, is staffed by a team of four science and engineering resource services librarians. Under the general direction of the Coordinator for the Science and Engineering Library, the librarian will select traditional and electronic resources for the collection, develop innovative services, provide subject-related consultative and instructional services, and develop web-based resources for the assigned client groups. In this liaison-focused library, a high level of interaction between faculty and students and the librarian is essential. The librarian serves as a member of the Resource Services Department, which includes providing reference service via the Brandeis model, participating in departmental activities, and working with library-wide groups and other library and university groups to coordinate services, initiate projects, and implement programs. The Sheridan Libraries encompass the Milton S. Eisenhower Library and its collections at the John Work Garrett Library, the George Peabody Library, and the Albert D. Hutzler Undergraduate Reading Room. Its primary constituency is the students and faculty in the schools of Arts and Sciences, Engineering, and Professional Studies in Business and Education. A key partner in the academic enterprise, the library is a leader in the innovative application of information technology and has implemented notable diversity and organizational development programs. The Sheridan Libraries are strongly committed to diversity. A strategic goal of the Libraries is to 'work toward achieving diversity when recruiting new and promoting existing staff.' The Libraries prize initiative, creativity, professionalism, and teamwork. Hopkins librarians have Senior Staff status. QUALIFICATIONS: MLS from an ALA-accredited library school with at least two years of experience in collection development and/or reference in a library; requires undergraduate or advanced degree in biology, psychology, or other related science or engineering field, or experience serving a similar user population; strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to conduct seminars and instructional programs; willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends.
