Please excuse the duplication ********************** LICENSING ELECTRONIC RESOURCES TO LIBRARIES Understanding Your Market An ARL Workshop for Publishers Sponsored by Swets Blackwell Monday, November 19, 2001 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Marriott Philadelphia Downtown 1201 Market Street Philadelphia, PA 19107 TOPICS TO BE COVERED: The workshop will provide: * a review of the legal landscape of the academic library and how it effects the licensing process and licensing terms; * a discussion of the mission and value of libraries as they relate to users, access, and uses and how these influence licensing terms and negotiations; * an explanation of consortia and how they work; and * an opportunity for questions and discussions. TARGET AUDIENCE: The workshop is intended for publishers and vendors newly engaged in the process of licensing electronic resources to libraries. Individuals might include those who are responsible for: * writing license agreements; * marketing or servicing electronic resources; * negotiating and/or signing licenses for electronic resources on behalf of the publisher.
