UK equity groups eye German publisher



Carol Hutchins of the Courant Institute (NYU) has identified this article
in the Financial Times from December regarding Bertlesmans attempt to sell

(Bertelsman)... issued a detailed information memorandum on its science
and business publishing arm, inviting preliminary offers by the end of
January. Several potential trade buyers - including Reed Elsevier, the
Anglo-Dutch publishing group, and Taylor & Francis of the UK - have
requested copies of the memorandum.

Merrill Lynch, which is conducting the auction, is due to recommend a 
shortlist of bidders to Bertelsmann once initial offers have been received.
