Binghamton University Libraries State University of New York Electronic Resources and Services Librarian Binghamton University seeks to fill the position of Electronic Resources and Services Librarian. The person in the position leads the Libraries in the selection and implementation of user-friendly electronic resources and services and contributes to the team effort to provide high-quality services. This is a tenure track position reporting to the Director of Libraries. DESCRIPTION: In coordination with appropriate staff members, this person will determine goals for electronic services and recommend policy; select electronic resources and negotiate license agreement with vendors; represent the Libraries to consortia engaged in the selection and acquisition of electronic services; work closely with Library Systems and the Academic Computing units to implement new services; coordinate the efforts of the Libraries Webteam; participate in professional development and services activities. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: MLS from an ALA-accredited institution, minimum of 5 years post-MLS experience in reference, collection development, or in acquisitions-related functions in an academic library. A strong interest in and knowledge of the use of computer applications for access to digital information. Excellent communication skills. Demonstrated success in providing leadership in a collaborative working environment. Preferred: Successful experience negotiating licenses associated with electronic information technologies or other types of contracts. Experience in the analysis of library collection needs and use. Experience in the preparation and management of large collection budgets. Experience in marketing information services. Finalists invited for an interview must demonstrate communication skills and knowledge of electronic services through a presentation to library faculty, staff, and other members of the university community. COMPENSATION: Minimum starting salary $50,000, plus excellent fringe benefits including TIAA/CREF. ENVIRONMENT: One of four university centers within the State University of New York, Binghamton enrolls approximately 12,000 students in programs leading to bachelors, master's, and doctoral degrees. The collections in the Glenn G. Bartle Library and the Science Library consist of approximately 1.5 million volumes.
