But no one seems to question the influence of the federal government, via the granting agencies, even though the effect is likely to be much stronger on the research done and the papers published. In fact, there is no reason to suppose a lack of bias on the part of the feds, either. But to ignore their bias and to attempt to screen out biases stemming from donors or business interests constitutes a definite tilt with substantial consequences. --Mark
