Thank you much! ________________________________ E-Resources Librarian Appalachian State University Position Title: Instructor or Assistant Professor (E-Resources Librarian) Department: University Library The University Library at Appalachian State University seeks a creative and energetic E-Resources Librarian to join a team-oriented, teaching library. This newly created position is part of the Bibliographic Services team of 16 members (6 faculty, 7 specialists, 3 technicians) which acquires, catalogs, and processes library resources in all formats. The successful candidate will work closely with the Bibliographic Services Team members and other library colleagues to create a comprehensive approach to the management of electronic resources. Our goal is to provide a seamless and transparent digital research environment for students and faculty. This position demands leadership abilities and the ability to initiate and complete projects in a timely and independent manner. It also requires collaborative work with several teams to oversee the Library's electronic resources. All library faculty are expected to participate in the Library's information literacy program both on and off campus and to engage in an active program of scholarship, library and professional service as outlined in the University's Faculty Handbook and the Library's Departmental Personnel Committee Guidelines. The E-Resources Librarian will monitor and explore developments, trends, and standards within areas of responsibility. **Responsibilities** The successful candidate will: *Evaluate and improve access to e-resources on- and off-campus: troubleshoot access, maintenance, and other performance issues related to electronic resources. Serve as lead for the management of access to e-resources. *Design effective workflows for managing the library's e-resources using a shared ILS (III Millennium), e-journal portal (EBSCO A-to-Z) and link resolver (WebBridge). *Analyze and continually improve access to library resources in the link resolver. *Lead continual review of competing products and new methods of managing e-resources. *Work directly with vendors on projects related to access to e-resources. *Ensure that new database, software features and upgrades are communicated with colleagues. *Work collaboratively within the Western North Carolina Library Network and University of North Carolina System on e-resources issues. *Collaborate in provision of library resource usage and data tracking for decision-making. *Participate in library and team planning. *Supervise, train, and evaluate student employees and staff as appropriate. *Participate in the library's instruction program. *Engage in an active program of scholarship and professional service as outlined in the University's Faculty Handbook and the Library's Departmental Personnel Committee Guidelines. [http://www.library.appstate.edu/admin/policy/dpc/index.html]. **Qualifications** Required: *ALA-accredited master's degree, *Demonstrated mastery (through experience or coursework) of current e-resources concepts related to trends and practice, *Excellent written and oral communication skills, *Leadership abilities, *The ability to initiate and complete projects in a timely and independent manner, *Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, and *Potential to meet the library's requirement for scholarship, service, and leadership. Preferred: *Experience managing e-resources in an academic library. *Experience managing resources in a link resolver. *Experience working with III Millennium. *Working knowledge of metadata in MARC and XML formats. *Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with diverse students, faculty, and staff. *Second advanced degree. Rank as an Assistant Professor and continued employment beyond the Instructor term requires an advanced degree in addition to the ALA-accredited master's degree. *Life experiences similar to those of under-represented populations at Appalachian. Salary and rank are determined on the basis of qualifications and experience. Minimum salaries for the ranks are: Instructor $45,000 and Assistant Professor $50,000.
