Two very interesting and related posts on the Scholarly Kitchen today. David Crotty does a humorous critique of Web 2.0 business models (and those that promote them), suggesting that they are based largely on empty hype and used primarily as advertisement to sell non-2.0 garbage like books about how to make money using 2.0. http://scholarlykitchen.sspnet.org/2009/07/02/successful-web-2-0-business-models/ Kent Anderson covers Malcolm Gladwell's New Yorker article, an essay by Michael Nielsen on the disruption of scientific publishing, and a commentary on Cris Anderson's forthcoming book, "Free: The Future of a Radical Price". http://scholarlykitchen.sspnet.org/2009/07/02/gladwell-nielsen-fixed-costs-of-fixed-ideas/ --Phil Davis
