The following announcement is being released today. Apologies for duplicate postings. Daviess Menefee Elsevier The Board of The Elsevier Foundation has approved two new grant programs that may be of interest to the academic and library communities: The Innovative Libraries in Developing Countries program will make grants to improve the capacity of developing world libraries through training, infrastructure, technology, digitization and preservation of STM information. The Foundation will focus in particular on supporting partnerships in these areas between libraries in the developing countries and institutions in the developed countries. The New Scholars program is designed to encourage the participation of women in academic science and technology through programs that address the challenges associated with managing career and family responsibilities. We are focusing in particular on supporting the efforts of academic institutions and scholarly societies to help scientists with family responsibilities attend conferences and meetings that are important to establishing a career in science.
