Apologies for cross posting - but I'd be grateful if you could bring this vacancy to the attention of your readers. ***** The Wellcome Trust Project Manager (UK PubMed Central) The Wellcome Trust is one of the world's largest biomedical research charities and its mission is to foster and promote research with the aim of improving human and animal health. The Wellcome Trust is the lead party in a UK-wide consortium to establish a UK PubMed Central service (UKPMC). The aim of this initiative is to create a stable, permanent, and free-to-access online digital archive of the full-text, peer-reviewed research publications that arise from the research funded by the Wellcome Trust and other members of the UKPMC Funders Group. We now have an opportunity for a Project Manager to steer the initiative during its developmental phase. This will involve managing the chosen supplier of this service and ensuring that all service levels are met and the services run according to agreed specification. You will work closely with the Funders Group to help define future system enhancements, ensuring that all parties are kept up to date and represent the group at various meetings and conferences. In addition you will also be the first point of contact for all queries relating to the project and will mange all budgetary matters pertaining to the UKPMC project. You will need: * a degree or equivalent * previous project management experience including the delivery of high-profile, multi-agency projects * significant experience working within a computing environment, or proven experience of database management, development and usage * experience of requirements gathering and specification writing * excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with a proven ability to work with a wide range of internal and external contacts and stakeholders This post is offered on a two year fixed term contract. Salary is expected to be c. L35,000 p.a. (depending on experience) plus benefits.
