Contact: David Greenberg Wiley U.S. 201-748-6484 dgreenbe@wiley.com Wiley-VCH Expands its Partnership with Asian Chemical Societies Weinheim, Germany, June 8, 2006 -- Wiley-VCH today announced the cooperation with the Singapore National Institute of Chemistry and the Chemical Society Located in Taipei, China as partner societies for the new publication, Chemistry -- An Asian Journal. Chemistry -- An Asian Journal will now be published on behalf of six Asian chemical societies: the Chinese Chemical Society, the Chemical Research Society of India, the Chemical Society of Japan, the Korean Chemical Society, the Singapore National Institute of Chemistry, and the Chemical Society Located in Taipei, China. In addition, the new publishing venture is supported by the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (German Chemical Society; GDCh). Wolfram Koch, Executive Director of the GDCh, stressed that the GDCh is a proud supporter of Chemistry -- An Asian Journal. "We are convinced that Chemistry -- An Asian Journal will become one of the leading journals in chemistry, similar to its European counterpart, Chemistry -- A European Journal. We are in particularly happy that our colleagues from the Singapore National Institute of Chemistry and the Chemical Society Located in Taipei, China, have now also joined this new and promising journal project." Chunli Bai, President of the Chinese Chemical Society, added that "the inauguration of Chemistry -- An Asian Journal and the participation of the Singapore National Institute of Chemistry and the Chemical Society Located in Taipei, China are milestones marking a new beginning in the alliance of Asian chemists." Chemistry -- An Asian Journal is a sister journal of Chemistry -- A European Journal (published on behalf of the Editorial Union of European Chemical Societies) and Angewandte Chemie (published on behalf of the GDCh).
