Dear Colleagues We are pleased to announce some changes to the distribution of Turpion titles (www.turpion.org) that will be beneficial to those who read and subscribe to this important series. In order to provide additional choices, products and services to librarians, in 2004 Institute of Physics Publishing (IOP) began a partnership with Turpion Ltd, the highly regarded publisher of eight Russian translation journals in the fields of Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. The partnership was met with excellent feedback from those in the library community and has thus led to a natural progression whereby the sales, marketing, distribution and fulfilment services for Turpion titles will be moved to IOP with effect from January 1, 2007. These new arrangements between IOP and Turpion Ltd enable customers to benefit from IOP's wide range of discounted packages and consortia agreements as well as IOP's excellent customer services team. This means that you will now be able to work with your current IOP Regional Representative (see http://www.iop.org/EJ/enquiries for your personal contact) to manage your Turpion subscriptions as well. And hopefully, you'll also save some money! Turpion journals are currently distributed by Turpin Distribution Services Ltd who will maintain this service until the last issue of 2006 volumes are dispatched to customers. Our aim is to integrate Turpion electronic content into the IOP EJs platform, although in 2007 Web access to the journal content will continue to be hosted by Turpion Ltd. There will be no disruption to the current level of service enjoyed by Turpion customers. Every effort will be made to ensure that the transition runs smoothly and that any noticeable changes are positive ones. I will attend the SLA Conference in Baltimore (June 11-14). Please stop by the IOP booth (Stand 1417) at the SLA Exhibition to find more information regarding these changes. IOP will be contacting all Turpion customers personally with further information in the forthcoming weeks. Tony O'Rourke, Assistant Director, Journals of IOP will also be attending the SLA Conference should you wish to find out more about the proposed changes in Turpion journals distribution. Or speak to any of the IOP representatives at Stand 1417 to discuss how this change will affect your individual institution.
