NORTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR COLLECTIONS See full vacancy announcements at: http://www.lib.ncsu.edu/jobs/epa.html The NCSU Libraries is seeking an Associate Director for=20 Collections to lead a dynamic, multifaceted collections program.=20 The Associate Director for Collections provides leadership for=20 the development and management of working and special=20 collections, and the related activities of acquiring, organizing,=20 describing, and preserving collections. The position directly=20 supervises five department heads (Collection Management; the=20 Special Collections Research Center; Acquisitions; Metadata and=20 Cataloging; and Preservation), who in turn supervise a total of=20 24 librarians and 44 technical and support staff. The position is=20 responsible for comprehensive management of a $9 million annual=20 budget to purchase, license, and maintain collections that meet=20 the research, teaching, and learning needs of the North Carolina=20 State University community. ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent advanced degree in library or=20 information science. The preferred candidate will be a library=20 manager with at least five years=92 relevant professional=20 experience, reflecting innovative leadership and successful=20 management of collections and personnel. Substantive experience=20 in budget projection and analysis. Current knowledge of and=20 experience with digital collection management and access issues.=20 Demonstrated deep knowledge of research library collections and a=20 sophisticated understanding of scholarly communication issues and=20 trends in publishing and information technology. Substantial=20 track record of effective engagement with faculty and graduate=20 students in the development of collections. Exceptional=20 communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are=20 required, as is the ability to work collaboratively. Strong=20 knowledge of the full range of library technical services=20 functions is preferred. Salary: competitive and commensurate with=20 experience. Benefits Non-tenure track faculty status.
