There will be lots of licensing and rights-related content at the Standards Interest Group meeting at ALA in Chicago: _______________________ Highlights of Current and Emerging Standards LITA's Standards Interest Group Meeting Saturday June 25th 4:30 - 5:30 PM Chicago Hilton & Towers, Williford C Join us on Saturday at 4:30 for an exciting managed discussion on current and emerging library technology standards: * NISO Rights Expression Workshop NISO recently held an invitational meeting to explore the standards needed to support digital rights expression and management for scholarly and educational information. Denise Troll Covey, chair of the Workshop Planning Team, will report on the workshop and its outcomes. * Publishers' Perspective on License Expression Alicia Wise, Chief Executive of the Publishers Licensing Society, will discuss the value that publishers anticipate in a standardized format for transmitting license and rights information. * ONIX for Licensing Format Brian Green, Executive Director of EDItEUR, will discuss the work of EDItEUR to develop a prototype XML license expression schema for inclusion in ONIX messages to transmit rights and licensing information. * PREMIS (PREservation Metadata: Implementation Strategies) The PREMIS Working Group released their Final Report in May. Rebecca Guenther, Co-chair of the Working Group, will discuss the PREMIS data dictionary and supporting XML schemas to support the long-term preservation of digital material. * Other Standards News Jenny Walker, co-chair of the NISO Metasearch Initiative, will provide an update on the initiative's progress. Pat Harris, Executive Director of NISO, will highlight other important NISO activities and news. ___
