I would very much welcome the opportunity to speak to a selection of librarians as part of the research for this report - the kinds of questions I am looking to investigate include: * How do you purchase STM books - does this vary by the types of books which are available (e.g. graduate textbooks, research monographs, multi-volume reference works, series? * How has usage of STM books changed - does this vary by the types of books which are available (e.g. graduate textbooks, research monographs, multi-volume reference works, series titles)? * What do you see as being the future changes in usage - does this vary by the types of books which are available (e.g. graduate textbooks, research monographs, multi-volume reference works, series titles)? * How are STM books actually used - does this vary by the types of books which are available (e.g. graduate textbooks, research monographs, multi-volume reference works, series titles)? * Is usage of certain types of books migrating to CD-ROM, online databases and/or e-books? * Is there a trend to use book chapters in course packs? * How does the use of STM books relate to the use of journals? * Do you perceive any trends in the quality of books published? * Is pricing of books an issue? * How are growing journal numbers and flat budgets affecting spending on STM books? Anyone interested in sharing their views on these questions should contact Kate Worlock at EPS on kate@epsltd.com. All interviewees will receive a complementary copy of the final report. best wishes, Kate ******************************************* Kate Worlock Director Electronic Publishing Services Ltd 26 Rosebery Avenue London EC1R 4SX UK Tel: +44 (20) 7837 3345 Fax: +44 (20) 7837 8901 E-mail: kate@epsltd.com URL: http://www.epsltd.com <http://www.epsltd.com/>
