PRESS RELEASE Lisse, the Netherlands April 16th 2004 Major Advances in SwetsWise's Ease of Use Pay-per-view for nearly 3,500 journals and 60% proxy authentication Swets Information Services announced today that it has successfully established a pay-per-view service for almost 3,500 journals in SwetsWise, Swets' web-based modular service for the procurement, access and management of subscriptions and online information. SwetsWise's pay-per-view journal service greatly expands content accessibility to end users, while vastly reducing interlibrary loan and document delivery costs for libraries. Customers can purchase articles directly via individual credit card, invoice or an organizational invoicing account. An organizational invoicing account depends on the arrangements customers have with individual publishers and provides complete control over buyer authorization, spending allowance and the type of content available for purchase. SwetsWise's new pay-per-view service affords the more than 70 participating publishers with additional revenue streams by selling content on a per-article basis to non-subscribers. Swets also continues to place a high priority on seamless linking through longstanding proxy arrangements with nearly 100 publishers. SwetsWise's proxy service provides subscribers with instantaneous access to articles of choice without being interrupted by additional authentication requests. SwetsWise proxy service grants customers access to the full text within 24 hours of processing the order. Steven Hartman, Swets Information Services' Chief Commercial Officer, notes: "SwetsWise's comprehensive pay-per-view and proxy services form an integral part of Swets' e-journal management drive to improve content accessibility and seamless linking for its customers."
