SOLINET Library Products & Services Program Electronic Resources Coordinator Job Posting January 2004 The Southeastern Library Network, Inc. (SOLINET) is seeking an Electronic Resources Coordinator to join the staff of its Library Products & Services program. This position leads activities surrounding the evaluation of electronic products and services for possible offer to the SOLINET membership and the initial launch of offers. Responsibilities involve frequent contact with personnel at member libraries, vendors, and other SOLINET staff. The Electronic Resources Coordinator works closely with the program manager in making recommendations based on the evaluation process, assists in negotiating pricing and contract terms and in evaluating the success of ongoing offers, and contributes to planning for future directions. Current awareness of trends and issues in libraries of all types and in the electronic resources market is important to this position, as are excellent interpersonal and presentation skills. SOLINET is an exciting not-for-profit library cooperative based in Atlanta, Georgia. SOLINET emphasizes the power of strategic collaboration, the value of a cooperative infrastructure, and the wise stewardship of information resources in the southeastern United States and the Caribbean, which results in better library services throughout the Southeast. Over 2300 libraries in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and the Caribbean are members of SOLINET. This position requires an MLS from an ALA accredited institution and 2 - 4 years experience in a library reference, collection development or acquisitions setting, or with a library vendor. Current knowledge of and experience with electronic resources, their use in libraries, and their pricing and licensing is highly desirable, as are demonstrated negotiation skills. The position involves up to 20% travel, primarily to attend and/or present at conferences and other meetings and to conduct site visits at member libraries. The beginning salary range is in the low to mid 40s.
