Wiley Forms Publishing Partnership With American Institute of Chemical
Engineers

November 13, 2003-The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE)
and John Wiley & Sons, Inc. (NYSE: JWa) (NYSE: JWb), announced today that
they have signed an agreement to publish the Institute's three flagship
journals, effective January 2004.

Under the new partnership, Wiley will provide all publishing services for
the AIChE Journal, Environmental Progress and Process Safety Progress,
including launching online editions through Wiley InterScience
(http://www.interscience.wiley.com). Additionally, Wiley will create and
distribute a digital archive of the titles.

AIChE will retain ownership and editorial control of the publications.

AIChE President Dianne Dorland, who is Dean of Engineering at Rowan
University, said, "The partnership will enhance services for both readers
and authors. The new platform will improve searchability and reference
linking, and the online submission and review processes will provide even
timelier publication of significant research," John Sofranko, AIChE's
Executive Director, said, "I'm particularly excited because this
partnership will increase the international reach and importance of
AIChE's periodicals."

Patrick Kelly, Wiley Vice President and Publishing Director, Global
Materials Science, said, "We are pleased that the AIChE, the pre-eminent
membership organization for chemical engineers worldwide, has chosen Wiley
as its publishing partner. The partnership will enrich the Wiley
InterScience service, advance Wiley's significant presence in chemistry
and engineering publishing, and enhance its ability to serve this
community."

The AIChE Journal, which celebrates its 50th year in 2004, is one of the
premier research journals in chemical engineering and related fields. The
Journal is ranked in the top ten of the Chemical Engineering category of
the Journal Citation Reports (Institute for Scientific Information). This
peer-reviewed and broad-based monthly journal, edited by Stanley Sandler
of the University of Delaware, reports the latest technological advances
in core areas of chemical engineering as well as other relevant
engineering disciplines, including biotechnology, electrochemical
engineering, and environmental engineering.

Environmental Progress, a quarterly publication, focuses on practical,
industrially relevant coverage of advances vital to engineering
professionals whose responsibility includes or is related to environmental
issues. Under Editor Gary Bennett of the University of Toledo, it provides
information on environmental management; wastewater; pollution
minimization, control and remediation; sustainability, and environmental
software, literature, and regulation.

Process Safety Progress, another quarterly, provides practical process
safety information for engineering professionals. Its focus is on chemical
and hydrocarbon process safety, loss prevention and health. In 2004, Dan
Crowl of Michigan Technical University and Joseph Louvar of Wayne State
University will assume its co-editorship.

Founded in 1908, AIChE represents 50,000 chemical engineers working in
industry, academia and government. It accomplishes its mission of
advancing chemical engineering knowledge through membership programs,
publications, conferences, and research and educational activities.
