The Sabo Bill, HR 2613, "To amend title 17, United States Code, to exclude from copyright protection works resulting from scientific research substantially funded by the Federal Government", was introduced yesterday, sponsored by representative Martin Sabo (MN) and cosponsored by representative Martin Frost (TX) and Marcy Kaptur (OH), and was referred to the Judiciary Committee. The text of the bill is not yet on the Congressional website, http://thomas.loc.gov, but will be there in a day or two. Kaptur is the senior-most Democratic woman in Congress; Frost is the most senior southern Democrat in Congress (full disclosure: also a Georgetown alum); and Sabo is a Democrat from Minnesota with 25 years in the House.
