Kerry says, > With all due respect, how can transferring costs from cancelled individual > subscriptions to libraries be fair for libraries and their users? Well gosh, that's easy: if a library patron used to pay individually for online access, and she cancels her subscription because she can get the same access through the library, what could be fairer than transferring the costs to the library? Not all the costs, of course, because there would be economies of scale involved. But certainly some of them. The specific pricing would be a matter of controversy, I'm sure, but the principle itself seems pretty fair to me. ------------- Rick Anderson Electronic Resources/Serials Coordinator The University Libraries University of Nevada, Reno 1664 No. Virginia St. Reno, NV 89557 PH (775) 784-6500 x273 FX (775) 784-1328 rickand@unr.edu
