From: "Kirsty Meddings" <kirsty.meddings@catchword.co.uk> To: <liblicense-l@lists.yale.edu> Subject: News from CatchWord PRESS RELEASE CatchWord provides linking technology that enables Taylor & Francis CrossRef participation Abingdon, Oxfordshire, UK. 7th February 2000 It was announced today at the AAP/PSP meeting in Washington DC, that CatchWord will be providing the Taylor & Francis Group with the technical infrastructure to take them into CrossRef. CrossRef is a joint initiative by leading scientific and scholarly publishers to provide a service that will seamlessly link journal citations to the appropriate full text resource. CrossRef is scheduled to launch during the first quarter of this year. Taylor & Francis, one of the world's largest journal publishers, announced in December that they would be joining the initiative. CatchWord already provides active reference linking for over 450 of the Taylor and Francis journals and migrating the linking capability to encompass CrossRef is a straightforward process. "CatchWord recognised the value of active reference linking when we developed the technology to do it in 1997," said Simon Inger, Managing Director, CatchWord. "The fact that so many leading publishers are now working together in CrossRef is a significant step forward and is extremely exciting for the research community. We are delighted that we are able to provide the technology to take Taylor & Francis into this project and are looking forward to being part of such an important initiative. Because our innovative production process is consistent for all the content we process and host, we can take any of the publishers we represent into CrossRef." About CatchWord CatchWord was formed in 1994 and provides publishers with comprehensive, tailored, internet publishing services designed to grow their business by deploying cost effective, global and secure solutions. CatchWord works closely with its publisher clients and industry intermediaries to help them exploit the Internet as a delivery and a marketing channel to researchers, scholars, musicians and business consumers of information.
