**Cross-posted to several lists; please excuse duplications** Reminder: E-commerce workshop - New York date approaching Copyrightlaws.com announces upcoming half-day workshops on E-commerce for GLAMs - Government, Libraries, Archives, and Museums. This workshop will provide an opportunity to understand the basics of e-commerce, and how it can be of benefit to GLAMs. The following offerings are scheduled at present: Washington DC: May 6, 1999 New York, NY: April 16, 1999 What is e-commerce and how can GLAMs benefit from it? Put simply, e-commerce is conducting business - that is, making money - electronically. No longer, though, is it the domain only of net-based businesses. GLAMs can use e-commerce in virtually any context in which transactions are carried out through more traditional means. There are many examples of how GLAMs can benefit from e-commerce using the World Wide Web as the medium: Publishing pictures or other works available for purchase or licensing; enabling online payment of fines, fees or donations; and publicizing materials or services that can be ordered and delivered either online or offline; and simply promoting your institution as part of your marketing efforts to attract and retain customers - these are just a few. Registration fee is $150.00, including course materials.
