ARL ELECTRONIC LICENSING WORKSHOP, NOVEMBER 5-6 KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) will hold another of its highly successful workshops on licensing electronic information resources on November 5-6, 1998 in Kansas City, Missouri. The workshop is hosted by the Big 12 Plus Libraries Consortium. This two-day workshop will: 1. Review the legal foundation of license agreements; 2. Engage participants in a review of license terms and conditions; 3. Highlight the importance of and present strategies for developing an institutional process for license review, negotiation, and administration; 4. Provide participants with an opportunity to assess and practice negotiation skills. Workshop leaders are: Trisha Davis, Head, Continuation Acquisitions Division, Ohio State University Libraries Karen Hersey, Intellectual Property Counsel, Massachusetts Institute of Technology Mary Case, Director, Office of Scholarly Communication, ARL Venue: Embassy Suites Hotel, 220 W. 43rd. St., Kansas City MO, 64111, 816-756-1720. A conference rate of $102/night is available until October 4, 1998. Please mention the ARL Licensing Workshop when making reservations. Registration: Attendance is limited to 60 participants, so sign up soon! Registration fee is $300 for ARL member libraries, $400 for nonmember libraries, and includes resource materials, break- fast, lunch, and breaks. Prepayment required.
