Dear Liblicense-l Readers: Today, the informal group that calls itself the International Coalition of Library Consortia (ICOLC) issued a Press Release and "Statement of Current Perspective and Preferred Practices for the Selection and Purhcase of Electronic Information." For the full text of each of these doucments, as well as a list of the participants in ICOLC discussions, please visit the ICOLC public web site, at: http://www.library.yale.edu/consortia/ About the International Coalition of Library Consortia: The International Coalition of Library Consortia (ICOLC) first met as the Consortium of Consortia (COC) in 1997. The Coalition is an informal group comprising about sixty library consortia in North America, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, and Australia. The Coalition serves primarily higher education institutions by facilitating discussion among consortia on issues of common interest. Throughout the year, ICOLC conducts meetings dedicated to keeping its members informed about new electronic information resources, pricing practices of electronic providers and vendors, and other issues of importance to directors and governing boards of consortia. The Coalition meets with members of the information provider community to provide a forum for those providers to discuss their offerings and to engage in dialog with Coalition members about issues of mutual concern. The ICOLC welcomes your interest, comments, and participation from additional academic library consortia around the world. The Statement of Current Perspective is intended to engage electronic information providers in a dialogue with the consortial library community. ----end-----
