Concordia University Libraries is looking for an energetic and innovative leader to direct their operations in acquiring, licensing, organizing, and making available all collections and research resources for both of Concordia University's campuses. Concordia University is one of Canada's most dynamic universities in one of North America's most livable cities. It reflects a unique blend of commitments to diversity, accessibility, social responsibility, and innovation. With over 40,000 students (3,200 international) and nearly 1,900 full-time and part-time professors, Concordia is recognized for offering a rich academic experience combined with strong community engagement. The collections are housed in the Georges P. Vanier Library on the Loyola Campus and the R. Howard Webster Library on the downtown Sir George Williams Campus. The Collection Services division currently comprises 6 librarians and 30 support staff members in the areas of Bibliographic Access, Electronic Resources & Serials and Special Collections, spanning the functions of ordering, cataloguing and preservation of all materials for the collection (print, electronic, other media), as well as management of Millennium modules and SPECTRUM (Concordia's research repository), and provision of access to a multitude of electronic resources. The position of ASSOCIATE UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN, COLLECTION SERVICES, reporting to the University Librarian, has primary responsibility for the leadership, evaluation, development and administration of Collection Services. The incumbent is responsible for the Libraries' acquisitions budget. Together with members of the Library Administration Team, the incumbent also plans and coordinates policies and projects for the Libraries within a network supported by the Canadian Association of Research Libraries, the Canadian Research Knowledge Network, and the Conference des recteurs et principaux des universites du Quebec. This is a renewable contract appointment and includes generous provision for administrative leave. Qualified candidates must have a Master's degree from an ALA accredited library school or an equivalent acceptable for membership in the Corporation of Professional Librarians of Quebec, and at least seven years of experience with career development leading towards increased managerial responsibility. Candidates will demonstrate the ability to lead staff in a unionized environment, to work with faculty, and to promote the Libraries' mission in the transforming landscape of scholarly communications. Excellent communication in English is essential; French language skills are a distinct advantage. Interested applicants should email Natalie Kaloust at <libadmin@alcor.concordia.ca>, along with their curriculum vitae and the names and contact information of three professional references. Review of applications will begin October 31st, 2011, and continue until the position is filled. For a complete position description, please see: http://library.concordia.ca/about/jobs/ All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada will be given priority. Concordia University is committed to employment equity. ____________ Geoffrey Little Collections Librarian Concordia University Libraries 1455 de Maisonneuve Blvd. West, LB 317-3 Montreal, Quebec H3H 1M8 514-848-2424 ext. 7748 <geoffrey.little@concordia.ca> <http://www.library.concordia.ca/>
