RE: Princeton bans academics from handing all copyright to journal publishers

The retention of a nonexclusive right to use the scholarly works
of their faculty, whether published or not, for internal,
non-profit educational uses - royalty-free, irrevocable, and
perpetual - has been the policy of all of the 16 constituent
universities of the University of North Carolina system since
November of 2000. - eleven years.
