Correction - ALA Program re. Standards Update Forum/Pie-J & SERU

The Continuing Resources Section Standards Update Forum presents
news on developments affecting continuing resources management at
American Library Association conferences. At Annual 2011, the
forum is scheduled for 10:30am - 12:00pm on Sunday, June 26, 2011
at the New Orleans Marriott-Studio 7. It will feature reports
from the NISO SERU Working Group and the PIE-J Working Group, as
well as a panel discussion on how the standards process works.

Judy Luther of Informed Strategies, co-chair of the NISO SERU
Working Group, will speak about SERU and its progress. A revision
of SERU (Shared Electronic Resources Understanding) is under
development to address e-resources other than journals. The new
draft has gone out for preliminary comment. Judy will speak to
the intent of the revision and will address questions about SERU
and its use.

The PIE-J (Presentation and Identification of E-Journals) Working
Group seeks to develop a recommended practice that will provide
guidance on the presentation and identification of e-journals,
particularly in the areas of title presentation and bibliographic
history, accurate use of the ISSN, and citation practice, in
order to assist publishers, platform providers, abstracting and
indexing services, knowledgebase providers, aggregators, and
other concerned parties in facilitating online discovery,
identification, and access to publications. Steven Shadle,
Serials Access Librarian at the University of Washington
Libraries and a member of the Pie-J Working Group will provide an
update.

This program is sponsored by a generous donation from Swets.
