Dear Colleagues According to EPrints Self-Arhiving FAQ (http://www.eprints.org/openaccess/self-faq/), the author should deposit following copies: "All significant stages of one's work, from the pre-refereeing preprint to the peer-reviewed, published postprint, to postpublication updates should be self-archived. The OAI tags keep track of all versions. (Note that the postprint need not be the publisher's proprietary PDF: there should always be a link to the publisher's official version, however, for scholarly purposes.)" This allows and requires the author to self-archive many versions of the same writing. I am looking for survey-based research, if any, on the effects of this practice on scholarly communication vis-a-vis availability of single version of writings. Also, of interest would be comments on the recommendation of archiving multiple versions of the copy. Regards Atanu Garai
