Berkeley Electronic Press names new Vice President of Business 
Development

Berkeley, CA - April 24, 2008 - Society and peer-reviewed 
publisher and software developer, The Berkeley Electronic Press 
(bepress), announced today the appointment of Barbara Kaplan to 
Vice President of Business Development. Barbara will be 
responsible for worldwide journal sales and for building new 
partnerships with corporate, academic, and government 
institutions. She will report to the CEO of bepress, Gordon 
Tibbitts, and will be based at bepress's headquarters in 
California. Sean O'Doherty, in his role as Vice President of 
Journal Sales, will report to Barbara.

The creation of this new appointment reflects the growth and 
depth of bepress's journals collection and continues bepress's 
commitment to ensuring that its partners have access to the best 
scholarly journals in their fields.

Commenting on the appointment, Gordon Tibbitts said, "Barbara is 
a great addition to our senior management team. Her vast 
experience working with consortia and her insight into customer 
relationship management will enable her to lead our team as we 
expand our services."

Barbara brings to bepress more than 17 years of sales and client 
services experience in the publishing industry. Before joining 
bepress, she held senior positions at Blackwell, Elsevier and 
Grolier Educational Services, where she worked closely with 
academic, library, corporate, and government communities. Her 
experience in building teams that focus on client satisfaction 
will help bepress better serve its clients.
