Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a Sr. Information Specialist at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania. This position manages the full life cycle of collections within the Virtual Library, including e-books, e-journals, databases, and self-service tools, as well as a small print collection. The role includes all aspects of collection management, resource acquisition, deployment, and support, including identifying client information needs, evaluating and selecting content and systems, negotiation of price and terms, ordering and payment, implementation, promotion, training, access and use support, and tracking usage and spending to maximize value. Management of the company's copyright compliance is also included. Our Virtual Library is a robust offering and, for our self-service offerings, the face of Business and Technology Intelligence to our clients. The Functional Lead sets direction, staying current with technology, content, information trends and developments, and vendor changes so that we maintain dynamic, targeted, and high value resources. This position reports to the Manager of Business and Technology Intelligence, a well-established and highly recognized organization providing Analyses, Information, and Alerting and Monitoring. A small staff may report to this position. Qualifications MLS/MLIS, with a minimum of two years of experience managing electronic content, and demonstrated strong skills and experience in negotiation (with an emphasis on sustaining a targeted, high value collection and on controlling cost increases), library management systems, and library function development. The successful candidate will have excellent communication, process, and project management skills, and a commitment to client service. Desirable background includes professional training or experience in understanding applied information retrieval, design and structure of tools, effective searching, bibliographic control, systems for access, information processing, intellectual property rights, knowledge management, and electronic publishing.
