The STM International Association of Publishers issued the following Press releases in the past few days; perhaps of interest. <http://www.stm-assoc.org/> STM issues statement on EC communication on scientific information On 15th February, STM issued a statement welcoming the interest of the European Commission in scientific publishing shown in its 'Communication from the Commission to European Parliament, The Council, and the European Economic and Social Committee on Scientific Information in the Digital Age.' The Commission Communication is part of the Commission's 2010 digital libraries initiative and the Community policy on research. The press release is available here. AND Publishers launch Brussels Declaration On 13 February 2007, a group of 35 major publishers and 8 publishing trade associations has issued a joint declaration laying out ten principles through which scientific, technical and medical (STM) publishing can continue working for the benefit of science and society. It was issued in the context of the European Commission's Communication on Scientific Information and its Conference on Scientific Publishing in the European Research Area in Brussels on 15-16 February 2007.
