***PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT*** PVLR ALA Open Forum, New Orleans, Monday June 26 - University Presses: Rising to the Challenge - Want to know more about how University Presses are embracing the challenges facing scholarly publishing? What does it take for a UP to thrive these days? How are the Presses dealing with shrinking markets, working to provide the new services electronic technology allows, developing new marketing strategies, reorganizing and retraining their staff? Where do libraries come in? In this, the first of two Forums devoted to the state of the University Presses (the second to follow at Midwinter 2007), the ALCTS Publisher- Vendor-Library Relations Interest Group has brought together distinguished representatives of the University Press book and journal publishing communities for an open discussion of their strategies for success.
