If you forward it back to the list, it will be distributed without the
paragraphs above the dashed line. You may edit the Subject: line and
the text of the message before forwarding it back; otherwise do not
modify anything else (that includes the spacing in the headers).

It is strongly advised that you do not indent the message in any shape or
form if you decide to forward it back, especially if it is MIME encoded.
If your MUA wraps your reply around into another MIME message, you may
run into problems if it modifies the headers that ListProc sent along in
any shape or form; the headers shown below that listproc sent along
should not be augmented or otherwise modified.

If you edit the messages you receive into a digest, you will need to
remove these paragraphs and the dashed line before mailing the result
to the list. Finally, if you need more information from the author of
this message, you should be able to do so by simply replying to this
note.

Dear Ann

I'm following up on behalf of Emily Gillingham who is travelling today. We just want to be sure you got the message to be posted to the listserv. Can you let me know if you got it and/or if there are any problems with posting it?

Many thanks in advance

I wanted to follow-up on the messages highlighting the recent increase in blocking activity from Blackwell Synergy. We are currently investigating the possible causes of this increase as a high priority and do apologize for the inconveniences this is causing our library customers.

Blackwell Synergy's IP blocking mechanism is triggered when the system detects unusual activity that is typical of illegal web crawling robots. These measurements were put in place to detect abuse and to assist librarians in securing their institution's network from unauthorized access. However, we do recognize that there is a problem with the increased IP blocking activity currently.

As well as investigating this increased blocking activity, we are also planning to add additional information to the IP block email messages that are sent to site administrators. These currently include the time of the block and the IPs affected and will soon also include the reason for the block and advise whether it will be automatically unblocked aftertwo hours, or whether the administrator needs to contact Blackwell to have the IP address unblocked. Additionally, the administrator is always free to contact us to obtain our web logs for their IP ranges.

If you have any questions or comments about IP blocking please do contact me directly at the email below. If you would like any further assistance with unblocking your blocked IPs or more technical help, please send an email to Sean Fallon at customerservices@blackwellpublishing.com. We will respond to your query as soon as possible.

Best wishes,
Emily
