issue of Reference Services Review (RSR), dedicated to the memory=20
of long-standing editor Ilene F. Rockman, who died from=20
non-smoker's lung cancer on November 26, 2005. The first issue of=20
2006 (Vol. 34, No, 1) contains tributes to Rockman, along with=20
the editorial she was composing during the final days of her=20
life. As editor of RSR for over 20 years, Rockman was a tireless=20
advocate for the library and information science profession and=20
deeply respected by friends and colleagues. To further honor the=20
many gifts that Rockman provided to RSR and to the LIS=20

A memorial tribute for Ilene Rockman was held on Sunday, January=20
22, 2006, during the ALA Midwinter Conference in San Antonio,=20
Texas.=A0 It was well attended and many friends and colleagues gave=20
tribute to Rockman and her work in the LIS profession.=A0

"We are one of most respected reference journals in the=20
profession dedicated to the enrichment of reference knowledge and=20
the advancement of reference services," Rockman writes in her=20
final editorial for RSR. "It has been my pleasure to serve as=20
editor of Reference Services Review for the past two decades. The=20
future is promising and bright, and we are all the better for=20
it." Ilene handed the editorship of RSR into the safe hands of=20
Eleanor Mitchell, Director of Library Services, Dickinson=20
College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and Sarah Watstein, Associate=20
