There seems to be a good deal of skepticism among publishers when it comes to this issue. At the Allen Press Emerging Trends seminar a couple of years ago, for instance, PMC's Ed Sequeira was surprised when his assertion that the federal government could be trusted to preserve scientific literature drew a healthy round of laughter from the audience.
