The acquisition complements Wiley's list of engineering titles, bringing a collection of three highly respected journals to the publisher's portfolio. Currently read in some 36 countries worldwide, Leaf Coppin's tribology journals provide access to lubrication and tribology peer- reviewed research from all over the world, are refereed by international editorial boards, read by hundreds of companies worldwide and provide an essential link between pure research and practical application. The three journals acquired by Wiley are Lubrication Science, The Journal of Synthetic Lubrication and TriboTest. Lubrication Science is the ultimate source for understanding lubricants and additives, and their mechanisms of action and interaction with surfaces. First published in 1988, it has become indispensable for those working at the forefront of lubricant and additive research. It is read by all leading companies and researchers in the field. Papers are selected according to their novelty and contribution to advancing knowledge. This journal is essential reading for those needing to keep alongside the leaders. The Journal of Synthetic Lubrication has for over two decades been the reference for research on future lubricants. Covering advanced synthetics for extreme applications, as well as vegetable and other bio-based solutions that meet newer environmental requirements, this journal completes its comprehensive coverage with a regular literature survey, and a researched listing of patent applications in the lubricants field. The journal is read on a regular basis by those thinking beyond the limitations of standard petroleum-based lubricants. TriboTest is where tribology enters the real world. This forward-looking journal publishes selected papers that advance the science and practice of tribology and challenge accepted thinking and practice, with the emphasis on new methodology. TriboTest also offers the only listing of current literature, meetings, and patents in the field. The acquisition follows the purchase by Wiley of the book list of Professional Engineering Publishing (PEP), the publishing arm of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. The PEP book list includes over 500 titles in areas such as automotive and aerospace engineering, fuel cells and nanotechnology. "We are delighted that our commitment to strengthening our engineering portfolio with the acquisition of the PEP book list last year continues with the purchase of these Leaf Coppin journals. The acquisition enables Wiley to expand our presence in this subject area and provide practical, must-have information to tribology and lubricants specialists as well as academics and libraries," said Ann-Marie Halligan, Vice President and Editorial Director, Communications Technology, Engineering and Statistics. "We are confident that under Wiley's capable direction the journals will remain at the forefront of their fields and continue to make significant contributions to the fields of tribology and lubrication," said Stephen Godfree, Director of Leaf Coppin Publishing Ltd. Wiley plans to make the journals available online to customers in 2006, through institutional subscriptions via its electronic content delivery service, Wiley InterScience (www.interscience.wiley.com/tribology).
