In case of interest: ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Fri, 5 Aug 2005 18:24:52 +0100 From: "Menefee, Daviess (ELS)" <D.Menefee@elsevier.com> Reply-To: reedelscustomers@lists.cc.utexas.edu The following message was posted to the ERIL-L listserv in response to several questions about the change in URL structure for the Elsevier Health Science's site. In the interest of wide-spread dissemination of this information, it has also been submitted to this list. Kind regards, Daviess Menefee Library Relations Elsevier Last week, Elsevier completed the consolidation of an older eJournal platform acquired as part of Elsevier's 2001 merger with Harcourt, into a newer platform rolled out in October 2003. This move, following similar rationalization efforts in recent years, effectively completes Elsevier's goal to migrate its websites for Health Science journals, specialty web portals and its Clinics series of periodicals to a single platform for individual subscribers and Members of Societies that publish with Elsevier. This single platform -at <http://www.journals.elsevierhealth.com> - allows individual subscribers and Society members to access about 400 Elsevier Health Science journals, specialty portals, and Clinics. With robust searching and linking capabilities, enhanced email alerting, and other features, the platform is intended to enhance the online journal experience for readers of Elsevier's journals. Some institutional customers who had online access to some of the journals on the former Harcourt platform can continue to access their entitled journals using the same username and password as they had previously. Unfortunately, as part of the platform integration, the URLs that institutions had used to access these journals have changed. To find the new URL for a specific journal, please follow the steps below: 1. Go to <http://www.journals.elsevierhealth.com> 2. Find the journal and follow the link to the journal's homepage 3. On the homepage, follow the link under " Institutional subscribers: Click here to access your journal subscription" Elsevier is currently developing a permanent solution to address the online needs of these institutional journal customers. More information will be communicated about these plans in the future. Please note that the platform migration completed last week is not related to, and has no impact on, access that Elsevier Health Science journals that an institution might have via ScienceDirect. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused for our institutional customers.
