A Press Release was sent out from Swets Information Services in the Netherlands this morning and I thought that some of the information contained within may be of interest to some Liblicense members. I have pasted the relevant information below. Yours, Damian ________________ PRESS RELEASE Lisse, The Netherlands July 27th, 2005 ALPSP and SWETS announce exciting additions to the ALJC for 2006 In the third year of the partnership between Swets Information Services and the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP), further improvements to the ALPSP Learned Journals Collection (ALJC) - which was voted 'Best STM Information Product' at last year's International Information Industry Awards - have been announced for 2006. * The collection will increase to include 558 journals from 47 highly respected scholarly publishers - up from 433 last year. * 5 new publishers have joined the collection: Brill Academic Publishers - www.brill.nl Gunther Eysenbach - www.jmir.org Edinburgh University Press - www.eup.ed.ac.uk The Policy Press - www.policypress.org.uk Whiting and Birch - www.whitingbirch.co.uk * A new fourth subject-specific package on Law will join the Medicine & Life Science, Science & Technology and Arts, Humanities & Social Science packages that are currently available, enabling libraries world-wide to select the journals most likely to suit their specific needs. The ALJC enables small and medium-sized scholarly publishers, many with journals that have high ISI ratings, to sell their titles effectively to consortia and other library customers by packaging them as a single collection, one which operates under a single umbrella license, pricing model and delivery platform. The full catalogue and pricing details for the 2006 ALJC will be announced shortly. Since its launch in 2003, Swets Information Services have coordinated the ALJC's complex licensing and legal structure and serviced its worldwide sales, marketing and online content access channels. Rather than dealing individually with a large number of publishers, library customers can access all of the high quality, full-text E-Journals simply and directly via SwetsWise Online Content. Sally Morris, Chief Executive of ALPSP, said today, "The inclusion of journals from these important new publishers in the collection shows clearly how valuable publishers find the ALJC. The new content and the introduction of the new Law package will make the collection even more useful and attractive to libraries." Arie Jongejan, CEO of Swets Information Services, added, "Following its award-winning year, we are more than pleased with this continued success for Swets' partnership with ALPSP and their Learned Journals Collection. It shows a clear demonstration of our ability and capacity, as a subscription agent, to provide dynamic and unique initiatives that can help to simplify the complications that publishers and our customers encounter within the E-Journals market."
