Wiley Forms New Publishing Partnership with the Optical Society of America

Hoboken, N.J., June 28, 2005 -- John Wiley & Sons, Inc. and the Optical
Society of America (OSA) announced today that they have signed an
agreement to publish a new co-branded series of books under a joint
Wiley-OSA imprint.

Under this multi-year agreement, Wiley and OSA will collaborate to publish
five to ten new titles a year for the optics, optical engineering and
photonics market. The first books under this new imprint are expected for
publication in 2007.

"For almost 90 years, the Optical Society of America has served the
information needs of the optics and photonics community, and we look
forward to collaborating with them on this program of co-branded books,"
said Janet Bailey, Vice President of Scientific, Technical and Medical
Books, John Wiley & Sons, Inc. "This partnership builds upon Wiley's
strength as a recognized and respected publisher for this market and
provides us with the opportunity to gain deeper insight into the
information needs of OSA's members as well as others in the field."

"OSA is recognized as a key industry publisher, producing some of the
field's most heavily cited journals and providing a variety of educational
publications for our members," said, Alan N. Tourtlotte, Director and
Associate Publisher, OSA. "Partnering with Wiley will ensure that these
new books will be more widely distributed than was ever possible with our
former self-published titles, thus helping us to better serve the needs of
our community, including educators, scientists, researchers, engineers and
students. It also will enable us to provide these high-quality products at
a reduced price for our members."

Wiley is one of the leading publishers of books for optical engineers and
physicists, as well as teachers and students in these fields. It has a
well established series of books on pure and applied optics, both in the
United States and Europe. Some best-selling titles include Fundamentals of
Photonics by Bahaa E. A. Saleh, Foundations of Image Science by Harrison
H. Barrett, Optical Shop Testing by Daniel Malacara and Statistical Optics
by Joseph W. Goodman.
