ALA ALCTS President's Program Meeting Announcement

Please pardon any duplication:

Join ALCTS President Carol Pitts Diedrichs for her President's Program
during the ALA Annual Meeting in Chicago on Monday, June 27 from
10:30am-noon in Red Lacquer Room at the Palmer House. The title of the
program is "Librarians, Learning and Creativity: A Boundary-Breaking
Perspective". Michael Hawley, an extraordinary innovator, educator, and
explorer, is the featured speaker. (Information about Dr. Hawley can be
found at http://leighbureau.com/speaker.asp?id=82 and at
http://web.media.mit.edu/~mike/.)

Karen Calhoun, Associate University Librarian for Technical Services at
Cornell University, will address the changing context for librarians in
the interconnected world of the Web. (Information about Cornell's
technical services is available at http://www.library.cornell.edu/cts/;
information about Karen and the text of her papers can be found at
http://www.loc.gov/catdir/bibcontrol/calhoun.html.)

Further information about the program and Dr. Hawley's Guinness World
Record holding book, Bhutan, is available in Carol's column in the Vol.
16, no. 2 of the ALCTS Newsletter,
http://www.ala.org/ala/alcts/alctspubs/alctsnewsletter/vol16no2/lettersf
romalctsa/fromthepresidenta/frompres.htm. A copy of the giant version of
Bhutan will be donated to the Field Museum at the program. ALCTS thanks
Elsevier for its support of the program and an anonymous donor for the
book.

The members of the President's Program Planning Committee encourage ALCTS
members to attend not only the program but also the ALCTS Award Ceremony
at 5:00 on Sunday, June 26, in the Adams Ball Room at the Palmer House. A
copy of the coffee table sized version of Bhutan will be given away as a
door prize at that event. The ALCTS membership reception immediately
follows in the Red Lacquer Room.
