The R.R. Bowker Company tracks new title output. Their stats for business
books (both hardback and paperback) for 1999-2004 are exceptionally
accurate and might be of interest.
 
1999 final:    3789.
2000 final:    4068.
2001 final:    5023.
2002 final:    5028.
2003 final:    5339.
2004 (preliminary; will be revised): 5626.
