Position Announcement: BioOne Executive Director

BioOne Executive Director:

BioOne is seeking a highly experienced, competent and motivated Executive
Director to lead our dynamic organization. Launched in 2001, BioOne has
become the preeminent not-for-profit aggregator and online disseminator of
peer-reviewed research in organismal and integrative biology, including
ecology and the environment. Our web site provides access to 73 journals
from 58 publishers (as of 2004, with more being added). Subscriptions
exceed 700 institutions and organizations worldwide (still growing), with
a renewal rate of almost 100%. Our success reflects the collaborative
efforts and vision of a community of librarians, scholars, independent
publishers and others. All have a commitment to fostering the evolution of
a scholarly communications environment that helps to ensure effective and
affordable access to peer-reviewed research under sustainable models.

Primary duties of the Executive Director include developing strategic and
business plans, cultivating new alliances, and building the range of
research content, products and services for both libraries and publishers.  
In addition, the director will implement and manage all business,
technological, operational, marketing and administrative programs and
activities. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator
capable of working under his or her own initiative and will have solid
leadership, management and business skills. Salary will be competitive and
commensurate with experience and the responsibilities of the position. The
