KB will receive digital copies of all SAGE journals in social science and STM made available on SAGE's online delivery platform, SAGE Journals Online. "We are delighted that SAGE has joined the growing number of electronic academic periodicals being permanently stored and preserved at the KB. This agreement represents a significant gain for Sage's users and the wider scholarly community," said Blaise R. Simqu, SAGE's President and CEO. Concurring is Wim van Drimmelen, Director General of the KB, who commented, "For everyone involved in research and the communication of research results, this agreement between the KB and SAGE represents a significant increase of scholarly journals within our international e-Depot archive and is again another step forward in securing permanence of the records of science." The first national library in the world to enter into permanent archiving agreements with major publishers, KB is an autonomous administrative body financed by the Ministry of Education, Culture & Science. Because international cooperation in the permanent storage and preservation field is essential, the KB already has strategic working relationships with the British Library, the Library of Congress, and the National Library of Australia. Simqu adds, "The archiving issue has been a major dilemma for publishers and for the institutions that subscribe to electronic journals. SAGE supports KB's mission of providing permanent digital storage. We also commend their research on innovative techniques for long term preservation since safeguarding information is so important to our future."
