Apologies for cross posting Early Online Publication: making it work Thursday 9 December 2004 Chair: Professor David Reeves, Editor, Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy Venue: Society of Chemical Industry, 14/15 Belgrave Square, London, SW1X 8PS Overview Pressure for timely publication is leading many publishers to set up advance publication sites. For those either considering establishing their own sites, or wishing to compare their experiences with other publishers, this seminar will present case studies and experiences from several STM publishers who use different models of advance publication. It will also consider the questions that these sites raise: are they simply to entice authors? Are they valued by users? How can they be maintained efficiently and cost-effectively? Are they worthwhile continuing? Are they only required by the STM market? With speakers from three publishers with extensive experience of different types of advance publication, plus representation from the humanities journals, the user community and journal editors, this event promises to be a unique opportunity for discussion about the concept of advance publication.
