The Boston Library Consortium, an association of 19 academic and research
libraries in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island,
announces an opening for the position of Assistant Director.
The Assistant Director works closely with the Executive Director to
support BLC's programs, serves as liaison to several of the BLC's annually
appointed task forces, and works closely with representatives from the
member institutions. The BLC currently coordinates a number of intra
consortial initiatives including a direct distance borrowing program that
joins the members' disparate integrated library systems and supports
unmediated direct patron requesting and borrowing of materials within the
Consortium. Members of the Consortium are also participating in a 24/7
reference pilot project supported by MCLS software. The Assistant Director
participates actively in the coordinating, planning, and implementation of
these projects. The Assistant Director also assists the Executive Director
in negotiating the purchase of electronic resources, coordinating
Consortium projects, and managing communication within the BLC community.
